How you can help the Kiwi:

The Otorohanga Zoological Society Inc. invites you to help support your favorite bird or reptile at the Kiwi House through our 'Adopt a Bird' Program. When you adopt a bird of your choice for a period of one year, you help provide the special care our birds need.

At the Otorohanga Kiwi House and Native Bird Park, our birds already receive the best and most nutritious food, medical care and attention. Your support will improve the aviaries and support facilities that make the Native Bird Park a better place for both the birds and people who visit here.

Adoption confers no legal ownership rights, Birds and Reptiles within this park are held under permit for the Department of Conservation.

Choose the bird or reptile that you wish to adopt from the following table then fill in the form below and either call into or post with the correct amount to:

Birds and Reptiles Available for Adoption

For the Adoptee

As a Kiwi House Adoptee, you will be entitled to:

1. An official certificate of adoption with your name, and the name of the species of bird you have chosen.
2. Your name on the Adoptive Bird Plaque, publicly displayed within the park.
3. One free adoption pass to view your adopted bird (pass valid for twelve months).
4. A fact sheet on the species you have adopted.
5. A regular report on the progress of your adopted bird and notification of any events involving your bird.
6. Renewal of adoption after the end of each 12 month period. You will receive a renewal notice one month prior to the expiry of your annual sponsorship.
7. Like all living things, our birds are subject to change, they may become sick or die, should this happen, your adoption will be transferred to another bird of the same species.
8. A New Zealand tax deduction for your contribution as the Otorohanga Kiwi House and Native Bird Park is a Charitable Society.
