PARK PROJECTS

Since 1971, the Otorohanga Kiwi House & Native Bird Park has been actively contributing to national and international education and conservation projects.

We are currently moving into a transition and development phase to rejuvenate the park in order to provide new and exciting visitor experiences.

Part of this development is a proposed Kea & Kaka Walk-Through Aviary.
The aviary will give visitors a 'bird's eye view' of two completely different natural environments:

• The alpine tundra inhabited by the Kea (the world's smartest parrot)
• The forest canopy inhabited by the Kaka (New Zealand's forest parrot).

We also have a range of smaller projects that may require your help.

The Otorohanga Kiwi House & Native Bird Park is owned and operated by the Otorohanga Zoological Society, a non-profit organisation that relies totally on entry ticket sales, volunteer contributions and external funding.
